Chef's Night Out at The St David's Hotel

Through our blogs we've been lucky enough to try many Cardiff bars and restaurants, one of our favourites being Tempus At Tides inside the luxurious St David's Hotel and Spa.

We'd like to shed a spotlight on this restaurant and also share a very special event coming to the hotel this year called 'Chef's Night Out'.

You can find this hotel on the edge of Cardiff Bay with views over the water towards Penarth.

Organisers and Chefs at Chef's Night Out preview event

Tomorrow, Saturday 4th February, Chef's Night Out will be taking place for the first time here. The event started up in 2009, similar to London's 'Who's Cooking Dinner?' and brings together chef's from across the country to cook food and raise as much money for charity as possible.

Previous locations include The Narberth in Pembrokeshire and organiser Huw Edwards hopes this year's event will raise £50,000 for Ty Hafan (a children's hospice based in South Wales) on top off the staggering £450,000 raised since 2010.

It's important to know Ty Hafan needs around £10,000 a day to keep it's doors open, so any quantity of money raised is gratefully appreciated.

Chef's Night Out 2016 will bring together 16 chefs and will be a celebration of Welsh cooking. Chef's include Allister Barsby (The Grove), Richard Davies (Epicure) and Hywel Jones (Lucknam Park). There'll be around 60 wines on order and three unique, tailor made dishes to enjoy.

The Chef's, along with their carefully selected ingredients, will be given a table to cook for on the night, so guest preferences and requirements can inspire their creativity... and the odd sweaty brow!

The sold out night will also include entertainment and a live auction.

If you can't make this event, you can still donate via their Just Giving page, click here.

It's also worth stopping by Tempus at Tides sometime... By day it's popular with folk of all ages for their Afternoon Tea's, and they've built on its success by offering a Gentlemen's Tea as well! Jamie absolutely loved trying this saying "it's like some of my buffet party favourites have been given the luxury treatment". You can read more over on his blog by clicking here.

The A La Carte meals are also a delight, Hannah recently treated her mother for her birthday and shares "my mum loved her main, she said that the house salad was one of the best she's had". You can read more over on her blog by clicking here.

All opinions are our own.
